Class description
- Ashtanga | 60 minutes • for all levels, 90 minutes • for intermediate practitioners:Ashtanga is the classical style of yoga taught in its traditional sequence. Combines power and flexibility with movement, bandhas and breath to produce an energetic and detoxifying practice. Both 60-minute and 90-minute classes are based on primary series.
- Body Basics (for all levels):This course includes a series of interesting movements set to improve your cardiopulmonary function, strength, flexibility and balance. It is a perfect combination of yoga postures and dance flow, allowing practitioners to discover their own bodies.
- Flow (for all levels):A gentle, flowing practice. Slow, restorative and breath-based.
- Hatha 1 (60mins ,for all levels):Hatha comes from “ha" – solar (+) and “tha" – lunar (-), and it is the harmonious union of the two opposite aspects in the human body. The practice of yoga postures (Asana) aims to open and purify the energy centers (Chakras) and energy channels (Nadis). It is a standard, all levels class. Excellent conditioning for the body, breath and mind. Ideal for everyone.
- Hatha 1 (75mins , for intermediate students):The class level is between Hatha1(60mins) and Hatha2(90mins).Practitioners should have over one year of yoga experience before taking Hatha1(75mins).
- Hatha 2 (for intermediate students):It is an intermediate level class which builds on the basic postures introduced in Hatha 1. It is excellent conditioning for the body, breath and mind. Practitioners should have over a year of yoga experience before taking Hatha 2
- Healing (for all levels):Human beings are born with healing ability. However, we are usually stressed-out in modern society, hard to relax our bodies, and therefore the healing function is difficult to be activated. Our body gets ill mostly because of our mental condition. Healing Yoga aims to calm our mind and release the negative pressure and emotion inside our body. This class includes a lot of lying postures and a few sitting postures. Slow, restorative and breath-based.
- Hot (for all levels):A basic Hatha class taught in a room heated between 36 and 40 Celsius. Hot yoga is an ideal practice for flushing the body of toxins, increasing flexibility, and building core strength. Not recommended for pregnant women or those who have respiratory diseases, high/low blood pressure.
- Hot Flow (for all levels):A challenging flow class taught in a room heated between 36 and 40 Celsius. Hot flow is an ideal practice for flushing the body of toxins, increasing flexibility, and building core strength. Not recommended for pregnant women or those who have respiratory diseases, high/low blood pressure.
- Hot Healing (for all levels):A healing class taught in a heated room. It is an ideal practice for flushing the body of toxins and increasing flexibility.
- Hot Stretch (for all levels):A stretching class taught in a heated room. The body tends to open up more in a warm environment, and therefore it is an ideal class to increase flexibility and flush the body of toxins.
- Mysore (for all levels):Traditionally this is how Pattabhi Jois teaches classes. It is a silent self-practice in which a student begins the practice without being led verbally. Each student has an individualized practice, which is developed and overseen by the teacher. Postures are learned or practiced one by one, and as they are mastered, the student gradually adds more postures in the series. The instructor gives hands-on adjustments or verbal cues. Students may arrive anytime within the first hour of the class.
- Pilates (for all levels):Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core.
- Pranayama (for all levels):Pranayama is a Sanskrit word meaning “extension of the prana or breath." Through various techniques of breathing, practitioners connect their mind and body, clear the channels of life force, and increase the flow of energy.
- Restorative (for all levels):Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing way of practicing yoga. With the use of yoga props such as belts, blocks, blankets, bolsters and chairs, students can easily achieve asanas without using much muscular strength. This enables the students to hold poses for a greater length of time and facilitates a deep release. Restorative yoga helps to soothe the nervous system and calm the mind.
- Rhythmic Flow (for all levels):A heart-lifting, delightful class. It is a flowing asana practice, combining movement with breath and music, which helps to release the pressure.
- Tai Chi (for all levels):Based on the Tai Chi “Yin Yang” balanced circulate movement, helps to relax our major joints, brings oxygen into the body cell, stimulate blood circulation and blood flow.
- Theme yoga (for all levels):Through the focus on different themes (shoulders, pelvic and hips, hamstrings, back-bending, balance and inversions), emphasis are placed on different parts of the body. With the improvement of flexibility and strength, we will achieve deeper understanding of our body’s structure. This class is Especially suitable for those who are interested to understand our body joints and muscles anatomy.
- Vinyasa 1 (for all levels):Vinyasa, in Sanskrit, means the synchronization of movement and breath. It is developed from Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga created by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Attending this class will help to build strength, flexibility, concentration, and flush the body of toxins.
- Wall Yoga (for all levels):Asanas are practiced next to the wall. By using the wall as resistance, we can learn how to use our muscular energy correctly and adjust our posture alignment accordingly.
- Yin (for all levels):A meditative, reflective practice that requires receptivity with little pushing or strain. Yin Yoga applies long, passive holds (no standing poses) to deeply penetrate the body’s bones and connective tissue. It raises one’s vitality, increases flexibility and mental energy.
- Yin Yang (for all levels):A meditative, reflective practice that requires receptivity with little pushing or strain. Yin Yoga applies long, passive holds (no standing poses) to deeply penetrate the body’s bones and connective tissue. It raises one’s vitality, increases flexibility and mental energy.
- Yoga Alignment (for all levels):This class aims to teach students the structure of the body. The teacher shows the precise way in which the body should be positioned in each yoga pose in order to obtain the maximum benefit from the pose and avoid injury.
- Yoga Jyoti (for all levels):Jyoti means “light” in Sanskrit. This class is led on the flat roof. Students are able to feel and connect with the energy of nature, improve their awareness and cleanse the body and spirit. If weather does not permit outdoor practice, class is led in indoors.
- Yoga Therapy (for all levels):Yoga therapy addresses your health on all levels using simple physical postures, breathing practices, relaxation techniques and short meditation. Learning the techniques allows practitioners to maintain better overall health, improve awareness and bring forth the healing effects.
- Chandra Namaskar (for all levels):Chandra Namaskar is a soothing yet empowering variation and counterbalance to classical Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar). It allows us to honor the yin or feminine side of our energy, in contrast to the Sun Salutations, which are more yang in nature. This flowing system brings the energy to the hips, groin, lower spine and stomach. It is known for the healing effects and improves your sleep.
- Chi (for all levels):A special class instructed by our guest teacher, Ming. Yoga practice is all about Chi, or prana. We practice yoga, or asana, in order to nourish our prana, not to achieve advanced postures. Therefore we should not focus too much on some particular muscles and joints, but the complete body and the flow of chi.
- Hatha 1 – Lady Niguma (for all levels):Lady Niguma is a woman yogi from India who lived a thousand years ago. She taught a special kind of yoga in order to open up the different chakras and allow the energy to flow into the central channel. Her yoga removes the stress of modern working life while at the same time keeping you young and fit, providing energy and peace to face daily challenges.
- Hatha 1 – Sivananda based (for all levels):Swami Sivananda is one of the greatest Yoga masters of the 20th century. His teachings can be summarized in six words: serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realize. His Yoga of Synthesis is an integral approach to reach happiness and success in life. In this one-hour course we follow the traditional Sivananda sequence of asanas, which has been practiced for thousands of years in the Himalayas. It is a well-balanced sequence that includes inverted poses, forward bends, backward bends, twists, balance poses and standing poses. They help to transform the body into a healthy, strong and flexible vehicle suitable to reach the higher goals of life.
